Apocalypto

A surprising film that really caught our imagination, which was unexpected because of some of the negative hype regarding it.  The story of one man's capture and attempt to return to his wife and children was augmented by the stunning backdrop of the Amazon jungle.  The authenticity (as far as we can know!) seemed to drip from the film and the costumes, sets and actions of the characters portrayed what I know of the Mayans well.  The Jaguar Warrior looked particularly impressive.  The language issue was not a problem and as it was so foreign seemed to fade into the background and not intrude on the film.
