A very good start to his Culture series and plenty of ideas in these books. I liked this one so much that I will use this series as the basis for the campaign. He includes some fabulous tech, a great bit of tension between the two warring races and a superb storyline. I would highly recommend this series to any SciFi fan.

I have literally just started this book this morning, having sickened myself on a year long diet of Peninsular adventure. Its started well.
