*Spoilers*
Pavane (is a type of cyclic dance) is a series of short stories about the different generations of one family in Dorset living under the rule of the Catholic Church. Britain fell to the armada after the assassination of Queen Elizabeth and banned technology, slowing progress and limiting all to steam power, ruthlessly suppressed by the inquisition. The story revolves around the family's sacrifices towards gaining freedom and enlightenment.
